Introducing: The Club Penguin Armies Global Server Map

EDIT ONE: Click here to see the CURRENT Global Server Map

So today I sat down and decided that I’d like to solve an issue that has been plaguing Club Penguin Armies, virtually forever:

The fact that there isn’t any agreed upon server map, and the fact that due to the lack of said server map, Club Penguin Armies are simply a collection of entities both claiming to have won a battle or a war.

There really isn’t much to it, and it’s not very interesting by default. But I think, that issue is about to be over due to a project I’ve just completed and the events now occurring around it.

AS SEEN ON CLUBPENGUINRPF.COM

I have been working closely with Omega39, and we are aiming to propose a new way to rank armies by keeping track of army servers. I’ll fill you in more about that later. But for now, let’s take a look at the Army World for the very first time.

Introducing: The Global Server Map

screenshot

This map was designed with the course of history in mind, aiming to explain World Wars and present day server locations. Really, it’s a synopsis of a bit of everything, but it’s all very close as in the current edition (Which right now reflects the Server Draft, and will be updated for invasions that happened this week on Sunday) (EDIT: The map has already been updated to reflect the events that have happened between now and the Server Draft) has armies relatively near each other despite the server locations being geographically based off of the server list from 2007. So let me reverse engineer how I came up with this map, and why I think it reflects Club Penguin Armies as an entirety and can speak for any army in our community without bias.

Before_WWIII_site

I started with recreating the Club Penguin Army World at the beginning of 2007, when World War III broke out. Each continent is a representation of each page of United States servers. As some of you might remember, there were three pages. Referred to as USA Northern, Central, and Southern when nations were first established. The far left continent is made up of the northern servers, central is of course in the center, and the southern are all on the far right.

When nations were first established after the war, the ACP nation was the entire first page, RPF the entire second, and Nachos the entire third, as demonstrated here.

After_WWIII_site

As time went on, and Club Penguin was bought by Disney in 2009. Club Penguin added a lot more servers. To represent this, I took the already existing territories, and split them up to reflect new locations being created in an already existing world rather than adding more continents. The new servers are based around where they are on the list with older servers, creating location relative hubs so to speak.

(PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MAP HAS BEEN ALREADY UPDATED ON THE OFFICIAL MAP PAGE LOCATED HERE)
Factoring that in right now, this is what we come out with, and as you can see, this gives us an entirely new perspective on warfare.

How will this map work? Essentially we are going to keep track of armies perpetually in the Top Ten, and their invasions. This map can be easily updated at any moment, and I’m going to keep it up to date personally to demonstrate how this works for the next couple of weeks. The map will be available on a brand new page dedicated to it on the RPF website, called the War Room. It will be updated every Sunday at its slowest rate, and at the end of every day for a while if we’re really feeling it (and when I make an interface in the future that could make it more intuitive).

I think it’s probably of value to say that I am feeling it, and I’m going to keep this updated with troop movements.

line_example

Above is an example if RPF were to announce invasions for the servers Below Zero and Ice Age. The purpose of this graphic is to demonstrate what troop movements will look like.

CURRENT EDITION OF THE MAP

Right now, the map is keeping track of the armies who participated in the server draft, and are also current Top Ten entities. They are:

  • Rebel Penguin Federation (Dark Gray)
  • Army of Club Penguin (Green)
  • Nachos (Orange)
  • Ice Warriors (Blue)
  • Dark Warriors (Gray)
  • Doritos (Light Orange)
  • Snow Ninjas (Light Blue)
  • Pretzels (Light Red)
  • Nachos SS (Red Orange)

If the above stated armies would like their servers adjusted based on an invasion we missed, I will have a page dedicated for comments with these inquires. I would also appreciate if these armies gave us a notice when an invasion is set to occur so we can update the map correctly to reflect the outcome and their troop movements. If you are an army not currently represented on the map, you can contact us to receive a placement. After all, there are 155 servers total.

FUTURE OF THE MAP

Having this map gives us some exciting problems. For one, how do we know whether or not an invasion was won? Better yet, what happens if an army conquers the world? Or loses all of its servers? Me and Omega39 are working on a new framework to expand our definition of how we play this game, and hopefully we’ll have a way to determine battles better than we do now in order to keep the map as fair as possible. We have also been talking with Boomer20, who is interested in advancing this, and aim to talk to Club Penguin Army Central and other Army Leaders about how we can properly expand Club Penguin Armies together. Watch for updates, because they will be coming!

THE UPDATES CAME – ADDED INFORMATION

Since you are reading this on the Club Penguin Army Central site, we have gotten the attention of Club Penguin Armies, and because of that, it’s time for us to discuss this map together and figure out how we can orchestrate it in the best light for all represented armies, including armies in CPAC, and armies in SMAC. I have talked with Mach recently, and we believe this system can be implemented as it is a better way to track servers, meaning that the “Servers” tab on CPAC would be a link to the specialized web page I already have going for the map, a page that can be easily updated with more information on it than available now.

Some examples of future map improvements could be a list of current wars, or flag icons for capitol servers that link their respective army website.

HELP US KEEP THE MAP UP TO DATE

Another thing about the map, is that we want to have it as accurate as possible. A couple hours ago from this post I have updated the map to reflect the current positions of all army servers. If it is incorrect, I have a page available here for leaders to submit a notice so we can bring the map up to date. Now, this will eventually create contested servers, and fixing that is the point of the future ongoing work with Omega39. But anyway, let me not get ahead of myself just yet.

So, for now. Head on over to the War Room and check out the map, and tell us what you think in a comment below!

  4. I checked how many servers ACP has as of now and this the list ACP had.
    Breeze
    Ice Berg
    Snow Fort
    Snow Globe
    Brumby
    Boots
    Polar
    Rainbow
    Fjord
    Blizzard

    • EDIT: Rainbow is apart of the Nachos Empire

    • RPF invaded Breeze most recently, and Brumby most recently. So I have to hand those two off to RPF.

The Nachos invaded Boots most recently, so Boots goes to the Nachos.

The rest will go to ACP since I cannot find evidence stating otherwise.

The Map has been updated as of this comment.

  6. I have always like your interest in innovation, Commando, just like when you expressed interest on how “The AR Sheep Times” was made back in late 2013/early 2014.
Although I see that this is possibly a way for you to advertise the RPF and to maybe get more site views to earn from the adspace if the community starts utilizing it, good work with the map 😀

    • Thank you! But actually, this one is on me. I have other websites, and had some free time to go ahead and do something nice for RPF, and then realized that I could just do something for Club Penguin Armies.

I have some ways which can improve what you have got already, perhaps I can share them with you should we meet again.

  7. Amazing. Glad we, RPF, got a sneak peek before all other armies.

  8. Commando, I don’t comment much on CPAC and I’ve recently retired from my work here, but all I can say is that this is an amazing piece of work. It won’t be easy to continue to accurately maintain it, but I would like to see where this goes. Proving once more why you’re a legend in the community.

  9. yeah, no, this is bullshit. CPAC is a news site and the only thing that should affect servers are armies. And don’t give me the ”it’s what you wanted” bullshit, the only people who wanted it worked on CP news sites, DW and ACP. Coincidence?

    • Firstly, I posted this on the RPF site first. Did you view it there? On an army site, where armies are supposed to be having the conversation? I can bet that you didn’t even check it. If you don’t want army decisions to be communicated off of a news site, stop only checking the news site.

Secondly, do I look like CPAC, DW, or ACP, to you?

      • CPAC. And yes, I actually did but reserved my comment for CPAC. These army decisions are being made by a select group of armies. If one army doesn’t like it (there are many more than one) then it shouldn’t be the be-all-end-all solution to a problem that didn’t event matter.

        • Why aren’t any of you having that discussion with me then? I posted this map here to show you that we have the capability to do this, and I wanted input on it.

So far a vast majority have expressed that they like the map, and nobody has really voiced their opposition besides you, and I’d like to know more about your view point.

  10. This is such an excellent idea! This not only shows the progress to organization, but makes this community look and feel more real! I personally believe that the S/M community should have its own map, or this map should expand in accommodation for those smaller armies. I must say that I approve of this map!

  13. This is interesting. I like the visual representation of servers. Its better than just looking at a list. It will be interesting to see how long the updates can go.

I used to keep a running record of servers for all armies and it was quite a chore to keep it updated. I always ran into the problem of armies not willing to admit defeat and hold onto servers, even if they got beat badly in battles.

    Good Luck with this. 😉

Why are there so many armies, and what are they fighting about?
What is the server draft? 😦 aaagh!
I stopped playing Club Penguin for about 3 years, so i don’t know what is all of this.

    • I’m sorry for missing your comment!

Armies started back in 2006, when people got together and started organizing snowball fights on Club Penguin. Ever since, Club Penguin Armies kept evolving up until now. Each of the armies presented on the map are from all different eras, but are all currently active.

Essentially, armies are fighting for dominance, control for servers or to be best there is.

The server draft was an agreed upon server reset to reorganize servers, as some armies were claiming all the servers by themselves even though they probably didn’t own any of them.

  18. Commando,
Hello I am part of RPF and I was wondering about tuxedo because I thought that RPF got it back from ACP. Speaking of ACP, ACP are saying that they have taken over RPF’s servers but that is definitely not true so, could CPAC talk to them? Thanks.
