UMA: The Wars, Overthrow, and Reconstruction

UPDATE: Control of the UMA site has been given back to Wgfv, who will choose the next UMA leaders. Both sides feel confident that the chaotic situation has settled, and has resulted in a more active, motivated, and respected army. The goal of the overthrow was to do what was best for UMA, and ultimately, we feel as though this goal has been achieved.

I apologize for posting this without actually being a reporter on this site, but since there seems to be a lack of posting here, I have decided (with permission from Playa) that there is a great amount of news that needs reporting.

UMA has been in a state of chaos for the past week. I will attempt to describe the events leading up to and including UMA’s collapse, and subsequent reconstruction under new leadership.

Part I: The Wars

For the past few weeks, UMA has been involved in conflicts with numerous armies. On February 28th, UMA declared war on DW, the reason being that DW “backstabbed” two of UMA’s allies. DW responded with a declared invasion of the UMA server Glacier, the result of which was never posted. DW followed up again with a post criticizing UMA’s apparent desire to hack DW’s site.

On March 6th, UMA declared war on two armies that were “the weakest armies I could find” according to UMA Leader Pie. These armies, IV and TG, faced a week of invasions (7 in total), from UMA. TG was subsequently hacked (though not by UMA). IV responded saying that UMA, their brother army, was power hungry and had stabbed them in the back. Trickster, the former UMA Leader, attempted to persuade UMA out of the declarations of war on so many armies, seemingly to no avail. This war met no resolution because of a pair of invasions by a new (yet old) army.

VLA, the Viking Liberation Army, formerly known as the army created by Fort57 to rebel against Oagalthorp and ACP back in 2008, was restored by its former leader Shaboomboom to serve a purpose outside of being an underground special ops unit for ACP. VLA’s first action was to invade UMA’s capital, Mittens. VLA successfully invaded Mittens in a no-contest, as UMA failed to show. The following day, VLA invaded another UMA server, Half Pipe, in another no-contest. VLA numbered in the vicinity of 8-12 soldiers on Club Penguin, with chat sizes as high as 18 during the invasions, enough to defeat a disorganized UMA. UMA retaliated by declaring war on VLA, and preparing to re-invade Mittens, however later events would prove this not to be such a straightforward matter.

Part II: The Overthrow

In a confusing turn of events, someone going by the name of “Suffer [C3as3]” managed to gain access to the administrative controls of the UMA site. Although not hacked, UMA failed to remove the new user’s account from the site, and in a matter of hours, Saw, Leader of DW, had pursuaded the attacker for administrative control. Minutes later, UMA’s leadership had been overthrown. With the intent of clearing out the corruption that had plagued UMA in recent times, including countless firings of leaders and hacking threats against other armies, the new UMA had been formed.

Part III: The Reconstruction

A new leadership was formed within UMA, lead by Saw, Boomer 20, Ace, and Harvin13. Ranks were cleared out, and all soldiers still loyal to UMA’s cause were asked to re-enlist. The website would remain the same, but a new chat was created in order to fully remove the corrupt leaders from power. Thus far, the new leadership has been met with mixed feelings. Those previously in power, as expected, are angered by the events that took place. However the new UMA has gained strong support from past leaders previously fired by the corrupt leaders at the time, as well as a large majority of the soldiers. The active count has already gained 25 soldiers overnight, and the leadership remains stable. The leadership assures a more fair treatment of soldiers and leaders alike, and has proposed a simple, non-communist government for the army. The site has been renovated, including a new CSS and header, and all systems are working towards getting UMA back on its feet. Does UMA now have the potential to return to its former glory? Only time will tell.
