Champions Cup IV: Day One Recap

KLONDIKE, CPA Central Headquarters – The fourth annual Champions Cup opened up today with the first round of Group Stage battles. Eight armies were pitted against each other in 20-minute battles to try to advance to the next round. The battles today took place between armies in Group A and B, starting with the Rebel Penguin Federation facing the Snow Ninjas.

Group A

Rebel Penguin Federation vs Snow Ninjas

RPF and SN kicked off the Champions Cup at 2pm EST, beginning their battle at the Stadium. After bombing the room, RPF moved into their first formation, a plus, while SN formed a vertical line. RPF dwarfed SN in terms of size, maxing about 35 to SN’s 8. After several emote and word tactics, the Snow Ninjas moved into a horizontal line, and RPF stacked in the bottom-right corner of the room. Soon after, RPF charged out with an E+T bomb, while SN did E+O to defend themselves. Then, SN did an E+5 bomb while RPF formed a triangle and chanted “winning”. At the end of the battle, RPF took the victory in a 3-0 vote and earned 3 points. SN walked away without any points, but still has a chance to earn some in their battles against UMA and Matricz.

Underground Mafias Army vs Matricz

At 2:30, the next Group Stage battle was scheduled to take place between the Underground Mafias Army and the Matricz. UMA gradually poured into the Ice Berg, eventually reaching a top size of 10. The Matricz, unfortunately, did not enter the room within 5 minutes of the battle starting, and therefore automatically lost. Despite this, they stayed on to battle UMA and ended up maxing 9. UMA took 3 points to tie it up with RPF. The Matricz will have to try to gain points by facing RPF and SN.

Group B

Doritos vs Nachos

At 3pm EST, the first Group B battle began with the Nachos entering the Stadium and joke bombing. They started to form a line down, but then switched to a ‘V’. Once in formation, they put up several emote and word tactics in quick succession and had around 18 troops. Due to the Doritos not logging on, the Nachos automatically won and received 3 points.

Ice Warriors vs Armed Forces

For the final battle of the day, the Ice Warriors were scheduled to face the Armed Forces. Unfortunately, this turned out to be another no-show. IW logged on and formed a circle at the Dock with about 32 troops. With no opponent to face, the Ice Warriors won this battle, earning 3 points.

Congratulations to today’s winners!

Tomorrow, the Group Stage will continue with armies from Groups C and D facing each other. The tournament will begin again at 2pm EST, starting with the Dark Warriors facing the Navy Troopers.

Next Saturday, Groups A and B will continue with different match-ups. Stay tuned for the schedule.

  1. The decision executed regarding the UMA and the Matricz battle was absolutely preposterous on the CPAC’s part. The Matricz were in the Berg 1 minute before due, yet you disqualify this glorious army. I cannot emphasis the animosity and revulsion I am experiencing right now. How DARE you throw the Matricz out into the dirt in such a unprofessional manner! How DARE you display such inclination when you are supposedly the most honest organization in this community! This army has been working as hard as it can to show the world it’s worth and this is what they get in return? A hand full of flippancy tunnel-fed down their holy esophagus? I, Generalissimo Change of the divine Matricz oligarchy, call for a rematch. If the CPAC do not abide to demands, the Matricz will be officially boycotting the CPAC and declaring war on the UMA.

    Good day to you.

  2. Congratulations to all armies involved that won.

DCP, did you have problems getting your multilogs on cp and that is why you didn’t come?

  4. Dcp didn’t show up because they knew they wouldn’t be able to move their multilogs fast enough to announced rooms to win the battle. So they decided not to show up to save effort. And regarding the D/Q of Matricz; the matricz showed up in the first 5 minutes, maxing 9. Even though UMA maxed 10, matricz shouldn’t have been “disqualified”

  5. RPF circled then did a “infinite” sign then bombed, please fix the battle description 🙂
