Editorial: Why the War to End All Wars Must Not Happen

There have been many wars in our 6 year history. There have been World Wars. And then there is this. The war to end them all, the war which has raged for nearly 8 months without pause or end. Now the sides have once again lined up, armies split down the middle. Except this time, if nothing is done, we won’t destroy ACP or the BA. We will destroy ourselves.

As this war reaches the boiling point, it is like the climax of some bad Hollywood movie. After 6 years, and now almost a year of flame war and fighting for the destruction of one sole superpower, the sides have lined up for the epic final battle, from which only one glorious victor can emerge- except that won’t happen. The only possible outcome of this war is the slow, suffocating destruction of all we have worked to build over the last 6 years. Let me paint the picture for you, branching off what Boomer so skillfully did in his post The Future of Armies in a Post-ACP World.

Suppose, for a moment, that the spark is lit and the WA and BA finally go head to head in battle. Day after day, troops are hammered with two, three, four, five battles a day. This goes on for more than a month, with neither army making much headway. Slowly all else that we ever stood for is forgotten. Troops become nothing more than machines, innovation is stifled, and the concept of ‘fun’ is a distant past. All energy is focused on sheer, total annihilation.

Slowly, alliances and sizes crumble. Neither side’s leaders are willing to give in, to show any weakness to their enemy, for fear it will be construed as an admission of defeat. Sizes quickly begin dwindling as troops stop attending events. Armies themselves begin to crumble. Leaders, seeing what is happening, try to withdraw from the war, but the damage is done. Now, 3 months on. ACP and Pirates continue to fight, Waterkid and Kingfunks literally grasping at the straws that remain of once great empires, in a brutal fight to the end. Around them, the rest of armies slowly fade into obscurity. CPAC has long since stopped the presses. Only the most ridiculously loyal remain, and even they are doubtful. But still the war does not end. With both leaders rallying their last supporters, they fight until no one but themselves remain. Armies are finished, destroyed by the hatred that each said would save us all. But this does not have to come to pass.

As we continue our slow, agonizing march toward final destruction, let’s take a look back. Never before in our history have we been so inexorably focused on sheer all-encompassing hatred. The flame wars between Nachos and ACP in 2010 are a tea party compared to this. NW and ACP? A children’s playground. UMA and ACP? A friendly rivalry. For more than 8 months now, we have been focused on nothing but ACP’s total annihilation. Both the Nachos and NW fought ACP with a passion. But they did so because they wanted to prove themselves superior, not because they wanted to destroy. You see, look now, at what has become of these armies which fought ACP. One is practically nonexistent, another in anarchy, and another now fights alongside them for their survival. Not one fights on the side of the BA.

For so long ACP has been a common enemy, the rival which united, caused conflict, and gave purpose to so many. Topping ACP was the ultimate feat, reserved, for only a few. Now they are a husk of their former selves. Competition thrives, and troop numbers are up for the first time in a year. Yet still, members of the Black Alliance, you are not content? ACP now musters its forces for a final push, and armies stand divided in two, with the odds tipped massively in your favor. Yet still, you are not content? The BA now dominates the Top 3. Yet still, you are not content?

When will the BA end its quest? Because if the BA destroys the ACP, they will have no armies to rule over. They will have no subjects over whom they can gloat their superiority. Armies will slowly crumble and die. The king with no kingdom to rule over, is no king at all, but a man in a costume, playing dress up.

So I ask you, when will you be content? When all you have worked for, all we have built is destroyed by your own selfish hatred?

Much as you may hate the ACP, you need them to survive, just as they need you. Armies are nothing with no one to fight. But to fight for hatred, well, we might as well just throw in the towel and all stop wasting our time. Do you truly want to return to our Golden Ages? Then end this, here and now, so we can finally start anew as we should have so long ago. The commencement of this war will be what would come if the USSR and US had both launched the nuke at the same time. Immediately, all would continue as usual. But as the inexorable march continued to the moment of impact, death, destruction, and annihilation would be assured. I’ve been doing this for nearly 5 years. Never have I seen so much hatred in once place, one war with such a terrible purpose as destroying everything so many have worked to build.

This is the future, the sad reality that will come to be if no one will do something. I have told you what is coming, now, are you willing to step up and stop it? For if we do not act now, as we teeter on the precipice between our Second Golden Age which could so soon come and a Dark Age unlike any we have ever known, only you can decide.

So therefore, to all of you, I urge this. To the members of the BA, leave your power crazed tyrant Waterkid to drive his army into the ground alone. Do not be dragged down in the hatred and chaos of the Black Alliance. Let Waterkid destroy the Pirates and himself if he so wishes, but do not go with him. Rise up and remove the tyrant. Let Water try to destroy the ACP forever, and in the process destroy everything. His march toward the destruction served it’s purpose, and brought ACP to a manageable level. Now, he is targeting it because of a misguided moral that has become accepted over the past year, because it made sense during that year. It is now nothing more than an overused excuse for the venting of his hatred towards them.  So if you truly care about CP Armies, let the BA fall like it should have long ago.

If this war comes to pass, armies will cease to exist. There can be no good outcome of this. So it must not happen.

Finally I wish to state this. I have no power to exert influence over you. I can berate, annoy, speak, yell, and do many things. But force I cannot. However, I know that if this war comes to pass, I will be fighting for the ACP’s survival. Because without them, none of us can survive. Because hatred is not the way to fight or win a war. Now, which side will you choose? Who will step up, and make a difference?
